Sheriff Robinson (1972 Mets coach) 4

Warren Grant "Sheriff" Robinson (September 8, 1921 — April 5, 2002) was an American catcher and manager in minor league baseball and a coach and scout for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball.

Robinson joined the Mets in 1963. He had served as manager for several minor league teams in the Mets farm system when starting his Mets career. He served as the bullpen coach in 1964 until 1967.

The next decade he spent his years as a scout for the ball club except in 1972 when he replaced Yogi Berra as the first base coach when Gil Hodges suddenly passed away. He was later replaced by Roy McMillan at first base.
