On July 16,2011 it was the second game at Citi Field as the mets hosted the rival first place Philadelphia Phillies in a 3 game series. So Carlos Beltran had high fever was unable to play so the mets placed Scott Hairston in for him and he got off to a fast start. Scott hit a 3-run homerun and had 2 doubles in a 3 for 5 day. He even scored a run after Daniel Murphy popped the pitch up which landed right in between the first and second baseman for the phils as Scott came from second around third to homeplate after the first inning double.
The 3 run homerun was in the 7th inning made the score from 8 to 11. The Mets won to a score of 11 to 2. Jon Niese got his 9th win of the season as his record his now (9-7). Cole Hamels struggled as his record his now (11-5). The Phils scored the 2 runs in the 7th inning after 6 innings of shutout and 8th and 9th was scoreless for the phillies.
The Mets record became (47-46) and the Phillies record became (58-35). So Scott's Day ended with a Mets victory as the Mets win 11-2 over the rival Phillies.
