MIke-Baxter-Mets-Head

Michael Joseph Baxter (December 7, 1984 in Whitestone, New York) is a Major League Baseball infielder/outfielder for the New York Mets. His nickname is Mike From Whitestone. Mike grew up a Mets fan and his favorite player was John Olerud.

After being placed on the 60-day disabled list in March 2011, Baxter began his rehab in Single-A, before being claimed off waivers by the New York Mets on July 22. He was with San Diego Padres in 2010.

On August 8 he was called up to the Mets as Jose Reyes was placed on the DL in Murphing Out and Mets are Tomato Crushed. He got his first hit in his first at-bat in New York with the Mets as Baxter,Duda Rally over Padres.

On August 29 Baxter was sent down and Jose Reyes returned in Game 2 of the double header against the Florida Marlins in the 5 Game Series.

He returned to the club on September 5 as part of the September Callups. He hit his first homerun of his career on September 28 to give the Mets a 3-0 lead as the Mets Take Finale of the 2011 Season.

On December 13 he was cut from the roster which made him a free agent. He signed a minor league deal with the Mets on December 16.

2012[]

On April 14 he got his first stolen base of his career against the Philadelphia Phillies @ Philly. His stolen base became the first for the Mets of the season.

He made a game saving catch in the first ever no-hitter in Mets history in the 7th inning. For more see Mets Get First No-Hitter. With the catch he slammed hard onto the outfield wall. He was taken out of the game as Andres Torres played in center as Kirk Nieuwenhuis who started at center moved to left. On June 2 he was placed on the DL with a displaced right collar bone and a injured cartilage in his rib. His spot was taken over by Josh Satin.

He came off the DL on July 30 as Kirk Nieuwenhuis was sent down.

2013[]

Baxter was sent down along with Ike Davis and Robert Carson on June 10. They were replaced by Josh Satin,Collin Cowgill and Josh Edgin on June 11.
