On July 3,2012 the Mets hosted the Philadelphia Phillies and the Mets blasted early off of them as the won to a score of 11-1. Here are the notes.


  • Jon Niese pitched 8 innings for the first time this season. He gave up one run on 3 hits and 2 walks. He even struck out 3 batters.
  • Niese also helped his own cause at the plate, going 1-for-2 with 2 RBI.
  • David Wright hit a three-run bomb in the sixth inning. It moved him to third on the all-time Mets home run list. The homer also gave him his ninth consecutive 10 home run season, which breaks a franchise record held by Mike Piazza, Darryl Strawberry and Ed Kranepool.
  • Daniel Murphy went 4-for-5 with a triple, two doubles and a single. It was his second four-hit game of the year, and he had four RBI on the night.
