On April 16 Niese in the third inning against the Florida Marlins injured his right hamstring which took him out of the game and had the same injury last year which put him on the 2009 DL. So then Hisanori Takahashi came in for Niese. Hisanori Takahashi will be in for Niese in his next start against the New York Yankees at Citi Field.

On June 5 Niese came back from the DL and pitched 7 innings getting the win making his record 2-2 against the Florida Marlins at Citi Field by wining to a score of 6-1.

On June 10 Niese threw a one hitter against the San Diego Padres. The Mets won to a score of 3-0.
