William Christopher Carter (born September 16, 1982) is a outfielder/infielder for the Atlanta Braves.

He was traded to the Mets in 2009 for Billy Wagner from Boston.

The Mets best comeback of the year. Down 6-2 in the eighth, the Mets rallied for 6 runs. Rod Barajas had the game tying 2 run double (which should have been caught) and then scored the winning run when "The Animal", Chris Carter doubled in his first at bat as a Met. Carter, who was tearing up triple-A pitching, just arrived that day, as Frank Catalanotto was sent down.

The game ended when Ike Davis made his 3rd dugout dive, in just his 23rd Major League game.

On June 11, 2010, Carter hit his first major league homer against the Baltimore Orioles pitcher Jeremy Guthrie at Camden Yards.

As of December 3, 2010, the mets have non-tendered contracts to John Maine,Sean Green, Chris Carter which made them free-agents.
