Pedro Beato (born October 27, 1986 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) is a Major League Baseball relief pitcher for the Boston Red Sox.

2005[]

He was originally drafted by the Mets in the 17th round of the 2005 draft but he did not sign with the Mets. From 2006-2009 he would play in the Baltimore Orioles organization.

2010[]

On December 9 the Mets selected Beato from the Rule 5 Draft from the Orioles.

2011[]

He made his debut on April 1 against the Florida Marlins.

On April 27 he got his first major league win.

On May 4 he was sent to the DL due to an elbow injury as they called up Michael O'Connor to take his spot in the bullpen.

On May 17 Beato, Ruben Tejada were brought up and Ryota Igarashi and Chin-lung Hu were sent down to the minors.

2012[]

On April 4 Beato was moved to the DL along with D. J. Carrasco with right shoulder stiffness. He joined the team on June 6 after rehabbing with the Buffalo Bisons. Beato took over Josh Satin's spot as he was DFA'd. On June 8 he was sent down to the Bisons to make room for Chris Young.

He was recalled up on July 4 as Jeremy Hefner was sent down to the Buffalo Bisons. He was sent down on July 24 along with Lucas Duda as Manny Acosta and Matt Harvey took their spots.

On August 16 he was the player named later in the trade for Kelly Shoppach.
