On April 17,2009 the mets hosted a 3 game series against the Milwaukee Brewers from the 17-19. The first game was historic for the New York Mets as Gary Sheffield hit his 500th career homerun and became the first ever Mets player to do so. This homerun tied the game at 4 and 4. The homerun came in the bottom of the 7th inning for the mets. See Gary's 500th homerun article at Mr.500.

To the 9th inning with Carlos Delgado representing the winning run on base. Then Luis Castillo's infield single drove in Delgado and the mets won for the first walk off in Citi Field's history.

The Mets won 5-4 over the Brewers.
