Chip Hale (Right)

Walter William "Chip" Hale (born December 2, 1964, in San Jose, California) is an American former Major League Baseball second baseman and third baseman and current coach for the Oakland Athletics.

He joined the Mets in 2010 to serve as the 3rd base coach. He replaced Razor Shines.

Once the season was over he was one of the candidates to become manager of the team. But the position went to Terry Collins.

On October 5, 2011 the Mets announced that along with Chip, Ken Oberkfell, Mookie Wilson and Jon Debus will not return for the 2012 Season.

He was replaced by Tim Teufel as the new 3rd base coach.
