Charles Dillon "Casey" Stengel (born July 30, 1890 – September 29, 1975), nicknamed "The Old Perfessor", was an American Major League Baseball outfielder and manager.

New York MetsEdit

Stengel was the first manager of the New York Mets. He served from 1962-1965. He was replaced by Wes Westrum as manager.

His number 37 was retired by the club in '65. After his retirement as manager he became the first manager of the team to be an executive in the front office of the team as he served as vice president from 1966 to 1975.
